A curated collection of 1,227 recipes built over two lifetimes of passion — gathered across decades, dedicated to the craft, and shared with the people who love food as much as we did.
Hand-picked from the collection this month. A dish that captures the essence of what Recipem8 is about — depth of flavour, respect for tradition, and the kind of cooking that stays with you.
"Every recipe here tells a story — most of them, we ate together."
This collection is built on friendship, competition, and a slightly unhealthy obsession with food and pastry.
A huge part of it comes from my greatest friend, Aaron James Maree — one of the most gifted pastry chefs I or anyone who had the privilege to work alongside him ever encountered, and easily one of the best characters to ever enter my life. For 14 years, we cooked side by side or apart but in contact every day, constantly trying to outdo each other. Most of the time, he won — I got used to that.
Aaron lived pastry. He wrote 16 cookbooks, filled notebooks with ideas, and somehow made it all look effortless. I was lucky enough to learn from him — not just about food, but about life, expression, and devotion to your chosen craft.
We always talked about building something together — we even had a name for it: 2M8S (two mates). It was going to be our retirement plan.
This app isn't that. It's something simpler. Recipes are meant to be shared — cooked, tested, and enjoyed by others. That's what this is.
Inside here is a celebration of his work, my work, and years of collected and tested ideas too good to stay in notebooks. Aaron would have loved every bit of it.
